Everton Superfan is Thrilled with his Blue WAV
When it was time for Chris Howgate to choose his next wheelchair accessible vehicle at the top of his “must have” list was the colour… it had to be blue.
Avid fans of Everton FC, Chris and his family spent over a year looking for the right vehicle to suit them and when they found the Ford Tourneo Custom from Cartwright Mobility the first point of order was to make sure it came in their team’s colours.
The Ford Tourneo Custom is a rear passenger wheelchair accessible vehicle with a lightweight manual folding ramp and a family-friendly seating layout.
Chris, 25, will be able to position his wheelchair between two seats in the second row which means he can stay sitting with the rest of his family. With plenty of space for everyone, the Howgate family just need to agree on the music they’ll be playing in the car!
Arriving by train into Doncaster, Chris didn’t know he was coming to pick up his new vehicle and was thrilled to see it was blue when he saw it for the first time.
“Chris is a big fan of Everton and anyone wearing red isn’t allowed over the threshold – even the postman, a keen Liverpool fan, knows not to mention his team,” explains mum, Alice.
“This vehicle is perfect for us because Chris can sit with his brother, Daniel, and we’ve got plenty of space for his grandma to travel with us too. He’ll no doubt want to listen to Steps or Oasis on the drive back to Liverpool but it will be a tall order to convince his dad!” she continued.
The vehicle was handed over by Cartwright Mobility’s Chris Davison (pictured above) who is responsible for the converter’s wheelchair accessible vehicles.
Built at a 26-acre site in North East Lincolnshire by a team of qualified technicians, all of our WAVs are available to lease on the Motability Scheme and we have manufacturer approval from Ford for the conversion of the Ford Tourneo Custom and Ford Transit Custom.Back to all blog posts
